Get to know the owner
Ask these before you book. A good owner will welcome the conversation.
Question 1
What's their temperament like — calm, spooky, sensitive? Any quirks I should know about?
Question 2
What level of experience do you recommend for a rider?
Question 3
Any health conditions or recent vet treatment?
Question 4
Do they have a valid passport and are they on the Central Equine Database?
Question 5
Where would I be riding — hacking, arena, roads? Can I use your tack?
Question 6
Will you be on site, or would I be on my own with the horse?
Question 7
Does your insurance cover third-party riders?
